SOLACE Network is focused on making Back to Basics easier. We want to introduce people to the concept of learning local self-sufficiency in the simplest way possible.  We want to break down complex ideas into bite-sized chunks that anyone can learn in a short period of time.  It doesn’t matter whether you have a 3,000 acre ranch or a 300 sq. ft. apartment — anyone can learn basic skills with a bit of time and effort.

To get started: check our Classes and Gardening information.

Grocery store shelvesSOLACE Network is all about teaching, learning and communication. As the world has gotten more technologically-advanced, many traditional skill have been lost or forgotten.

Most kids today think that food comes from the grocery store. Many adults don’t have the slightest clue how simple things like bread, cheese, household cleaners, or soap are made. These items seem to magically arrive at the store from… somewhere. We’ve lost touch with nature and our roots. We have become dependent upon corporations and Government to supply even the most basic of our needs. If the current system fails (for whatever reason), we’ll be in a lot of trouble!

Back to basics is not about becoming a mountain man living out in the wilderness. It’s about learning how to make and do things for yourself, at home. It’s about gardening and growing some food. It’s about learning how to do things and getting your hands dirty. There’s something very therapeutic about nature. It helps us relax, focus, think  and heal. Back to basics is really just about rediscovering ourselves.
